Here at The Dreaming Yogi there’s a core belief I keep coming back to:
Sleep is everything.
When I am well-rested, there is literally nothing I cannot do. No challenge I can’t conquer. No dragon I can’t slay. No mountain I can’t climb.
Sleep is imperative for our mental and physical well-being. When we sleep our body starts to heal.
While we sleep our body temperature decreases, our heart rate slows down, and our blood pressure goes down.
Having a healthy relationship with sleep has been proven to improve our body’s relationship with sugar, and weight. And sleep helps us process our emotions.
But what if you’re having trouble sleeping?
What if you just can’t get your brain to turn off at night?
Turns out, you can use essential oils around the bedroom to help you catch those sought-after Zs.
Here are the top 3 ways I use essential oils to promote healthy sleep.
1. Diffuse
Diffusing essential oils in your room will create a serene environment in your space while the mist carries the small oil particles constantly throughout the night. Fill the diffuser to the line of water and add 3 – 5 drops of your preferred essential oils. Watch the video below for oil suggestions.
2. Topical
Use a diluted roller blend for your specific needs and apply it down your spine. Roll some on your palms, rub your hands together then cup your hands over your nose and take 3 to 4 deep breaths. You can massage the excess oil on the soles of your feet. This is a quicker way to bring in the soothing effects of the oils into your system.
3. Linen Spray
Create your own linen and room spray by just using an empty spray bottle (I get mine HERE) and add about 20 drops of lavender, serenity blend or whichever oil you find soothing, then fill the rest with water. Shake the mixture and spray on your pillowcase and linens.
As you can see, I am a huge fan of using essential oils to make my bedroom a healthy, healing environment. If you’re not sure where to start, pick one, and give it a try for a few nights. Whether you give diffusing, topical, or the linen spray a try, I have a sneaking suspicion you’ll fall in love with aromatherapy in your bedroom.
